Our curriculum provides designers with business-building education.
Applications for the 2019 class will open this September.
Designers selected into the program will participate in the following curriculum:
PROGRAM KICK-OFF RECEPTION
Our annual kick-off reception is hosted by G-III Apparel, a key supporter of the program at their Garment District headquarters. Participants will meet other designers, instructors, mentors and FIT constituents.
Saturdays & Sundays, January - February, 2019
Participants will learn the day-to-day aspects of running a fashion business from FIT faculty members and industry veterans. Topics include:
- Fashion Business Marketing
- Fashion Business Operations
- Fashion Business Financial Management
Feb - April 2019
Designers will be able to work with instructors to refine and finalize their business plans. There will also be a number of optional summer sessions in which participants can receive in-person guidance and participate in specialized workshops run by seasoned industry professionals. Participants will also have access to a variety of courses offered at FIT through the Center of Continuing and Professional Studies.
PRESENTATIONS SKILLS WORKSHOP
All participants will learn the art of pitching and hone their ability to captivate audiences and deliver a compelling message.
BUSINESS PLAN PRESENTATION AND CLOSING RECEPTION
June 2019, Participants, mentors and industry names are in attendance at the closing reception. A select groups of designers who have successfully completed the Design Entrepreneurs NYC program will have the opportunity to present their business plans to industry leaders and peers.
