Deliwe Kekana
Deliwe Kekana has served at FIT since 2008, steadily advancing through leadership roles in diversity, equity, and inclusion. Prior to joining FIT, she worked in Academic Support Services at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. She began her career at FIT as an administrative aide before moving into positions as affirmative action specialist, affirmative action officer, and director for affirmative action and Title IX coordinator. She was appointed chief diversity officer in 2023, after demonstrating deep expertise and commitment to fostering an inclusive campus environment. She leads the college’s diversity and inclusion initiatives, oversees the Office of Affirmative Action and Title IX, and co-chairs the President’s Diversity Collective.
Two of her proudest accomplishments at FIT include launching the Equity and Inclusion Workshop Series and redesigning the investigative model for discrimination and harassment cases strengthening equity and accountability on campus. She holds a BA in forensic psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice; is a member of the American Association for Access, Equity, and Diversity (AAAED) and the National Associate of Diversity Officers in Higher Education (NADOHE); and she has served on the SUNY Title IX Coordinators Association (STIXCA) as specialized colleges representative 2021–2023.
Guided by a commitment to equity, inclusion, and accountability, Kekana is passionate about creating a campus culture where all members feel valued, respected, and empowered to succeed.
