Winter and Spring Schedule
In addition to the scheduled year-end holiday closures (Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day), FIT will be closed on Friday, 12/26, Monday, 12/29, and Tuesday, 12/30 (“closure days”).
Full-Time Staff, Full-Time Non-Classroom Faculty, and Full-Time Classroom Assistants may:
- Make up hours for the closure days by working extra hours during winter recess (Friday,
1/2/26, to Wednesday, 1/21/26) and/or during spring recess (Monday, 3/30/26 to Sunday,
4/5/26; FIT is closed on Friday, 4/3/26).
- For complete information, please read the “Employee Work Schedule “Make-Up” Form” (.pdf), which must be completed by full-time employees and submitted to their supervisors by 12/19/25.
- In lieu of making up time for the closure days, employees may work regular hours and
charge vacation, optional, or free days (in any combination) if time is available
in their respective leave banks. Please refer to the online information (.pdf) for details on how to charge time related to closure days.
NOTE:- If you are eligible for “shorter hours*,” you must make up 18 hours
- If you are not eligible for “shorter hours*,” you must make up 21 hours
Part-Time Staff, Part-Time Non-Classroom Faculty, and Part-Time Classroom Assistants scheduled to work on Friday, 12/26, Monday, 12/29, or Tuesday, 12/30, may:
- Voluntarily make up hours for the closure days during the winter recess period (Friday, 1/2/26 to Wednesday, 1/21/26) by coordinating proposed make-up hours with your supervisor to ensure they align with the department’s business needs.
*Shorter Hours - Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the UCE of FIT and FIT, full-time staff become eligible for “shorter hours” (section 43.1) on the first day of the fiscal year (July 1) after completion of five years of full-time service.
