A detailed Academic Calendar can be viewed on the AUP website. Students are generally expected to arrive the weekend before orientation begins.
Students are able to choose from several AUP-approved housing options, though there are some exceptions for independent housing. Further details will be provided to students as part of their AUP application process after being approved by FIT.
OIP also combines housing resources from all of its local partners (google doc) here.
Students will be required to obtain a Long-Stay French Visa for the full duration of their time in France. The Office of International Programs (OIP) will hold a visa orientation to provide guidance and necessary institutional documents. However, it is the student’s responsibility to complete the required steps and secure the visa. Please note that this process cannot begin early, as visa applications may only be submitted within 90 days of the program’s start date.
FIT requires all students to be covered in the U.S. and internationally for the duration of their study abroad program. Students are automatically enrolled in the UHC Study Abroad Insurance, which is included in AUP program budget sheet (google doc). This policy is SUNY-mandated, therefore, it cannot be waived.
The UHC Study Abroad Insurance is ACA compliant and students may waive the FIT Haylor Student Health Insurance using the Study Abroad policy.
As AUP's Student Life Office site puts it, "New school, new city, new language, new
apartment: we know that while this is exciting, it can also be intimidating...We see
you and we’ve got you."
