ISCOM
Description
Institut Supérieur de Communication et Publicité (ISCOM) has been preparing students for careers in advertising and communications since 1986. With close ties to industry and a strong alumni network, students are regularly exposed to the professional world—both in the classroom and through real-world projects.
The Paris campus is set in a lively cultural area, just a short walk from landmarks like the Palais Garnier, Jardin des Tuileries, and the Champs-Élysées. Students also have the opportunity to take courses in English at ISCOM’s other campuses: Lille, Lyon, Nice, and Bordeaux. If a student speaks French, they have additional options at the campuses in Montpellier, Strasbourg, Toulouse, Rennes and Rouen.
Eligible Majors:
- Advertising & Marketing Communications
- Direct & Interactive Marketing

FIT students choose from ISCOM modules for their time abroad in order to transfer back the appropriate credits to FIT. Each module has several ISCOM courses that equate to one FIT course. Students going to ISCOM typically take the equivalent of 15 FIT credits (30 ECTS). The course schedules in Paris will be created based on the courses you select and times of classes may vary week-to-week.
As this is an exchange program, students may also take online courses at FIT at no additional charge. Courses are taught in English unless a student chooses to go to one of the campuses with only French offerings.
ISCOM does not post their Academic Calendar until closer to the beginning of the term. Typically the dates for Fall are from late August through mid-December and for Spring are from early February through early June. Students are expected to arrive the weekend before orientation begins and that information will be provided by ISCOM after nomination.
Students are responsible for making their own accommodation arrangements for the duration of their stay. Keep in mind that Paris is a large city, like New York City, and students may encounter similar challenges as they look for housing. Start early and remember that if it seems too good to be true... it probably is.
OIP also combines housing resources from all of its local partners here.
Students will be required to obtain a Long-Stay French Visa for the full duration of their time in France. The Office of International Programs (OIP) will hold a visa orientation to provide guidance and necessary institutional documents. However, it is the student’s responsibility to complete the required steps and secure the visa. Please note that this process cannot begin early, as visa applications may only be submitted within 90 days of the program’s start date.
FIT requires all students to be covered in the U.S. and internationally for the duration of their study abroad program. Students are automatically enrolled in the UHC Study Abroad Insurance, which is included in ISCOM program budget sheet (google doc). This policy is SUNY-mandated, therefore, it cannot be waived.
The UHC Study Abroad Insurance is ACA compliant and students may waive the FIT Haylor Student Health Insurance using the Study Abroad policy.
All ISCOM campuses are adapted for students with any type of disabilities. Please
inform us in advance if any special preparations need to be made for your arrival.
In addition, free appointments with a psychologist are available for students who
may need them.
